Description

I am not sure why you would like to use a DOS CD-ROM driver anymore but what the heck. Download the zip file and extract to a bootable floppy drive or any bootable media such as flash drive or USB hard disk. For more information on how to create a working DOS boot disk, you can refer to this great resource.

These are the files available once you unzip them:

  1. MSCDEX.EXE

Mscdex is a CD-ROM redirector that enables CD-ROM access from the MS-DOS.

  2. FINDRAMD.EXE
  3. HIMEM.SYS
  4. Xcdrom.sys
  5. CONFIG.SYS
  6. AUTOEXEC.BAT

You can edit AUTOEXEC.BAT file for more advanced settings, such as to specify the name for your JMicron JMB361 CD-ROM drive. This must be identical to the device name in the Config.sys file

For example. in CONFIG.SYS we have these entries:

  1. DEVICE=XCDROM.SYS /D:MSCD000 /C0
  2. DEVICE=XCDROM.SYS /D:MSCD001 /C1
  3. DEVICE=XCDROM.SYS /D:MSCD002 /C2

So in AUTOEXEC.BAT we can specify MSCD000, MSCD001 and MSCD002 in line:

MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD000 /D:MSCD001 /D:MSCD002
