The download link is pointing to HP driver page for Laserjet 1000 printer for all available Windows versions. However, although Windows Vista is listed as an available option, if you look further down for Windows Vista driver, you are out of luck because as of time of writing, is not available for this particular model. See following statement from HP:

Today, a solution for your product is not available in Microsoft Windows Vista. Drivers will be posted as they are completed.

But if you are adventurous, or if you are sure your printer currently uses either a PCL5, PCL6 or PostScript XP driver, you may download the current XP driver from HP to provide printing functionality. Windows Vista printing is very similar to Windows XP and most print drivers supported in XP environment for LaserJet printers may also work in the Windows Vista operating system.
So your choices of Windows are Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. Installation is simple. Download the driver file and extract to a temporary folder. After extracted, you can browse to that folder and start driver installation from the folder. For specific instruction, please refer to the readme file in the extracted folder.
