Description

There are two versions of driver for HP DeskJet 5550 for Windows 2000 and XP. One is for parallel cables only and the other one is for both USB and parallel cable. This one discussed here is the latter (USB AND PARALLEL).

Installation instructions:

  1. The printer cable (USB or Parallel) must be unplugged before proceeding.
  2. Create a new folder on the hard drive: c:/dj5551 before downloading the printer driver.
  3. Download the driver to the newly created c:/dj5551 folder.
  4. Open the c:/dj5551 folder and double-click on the downloaded exe file. Once the files are loaded and driver installation screen appears, proceed to step 6. If this screen does not appear, continue with the next step to manually open the screen.
  5. Double-click on the c:/dj5551/Win2k_xp folder to open the folder.
  6. Double-click on the setup.exe file to start the installation program.
  7. Follow the instructions on the installer screens to complete the installation.
If you think the download size is too big (because of slow connection speed), you may order the driver in CD. However, if you are using Windows ME and 98, you are out of luck because no such option is available for these two OSes.
