Description There are mainly two types of IBM PC 300PL audio drivers. One is using Crystal Audio (type 6862, 6872, 6890, 6892) and the other one is using ADI SoundMAX audio (type 6584, 6594, 6595).

For PC 300PL using Crystal Audio (type 6862, 6872, 6890, 6892), the driver will automatically extract to your hard drive. It will only extract under Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT. The extraction process will NOT work with any other operating system.

For IBM PC 300PL using ADI SoundMAX audio (type 6584, 6594, 6595) instead, the driver will work for the Microsoft Windows 98SE, Windows 2000, Windows Me operating systems.

These files will automatically extract to your hard drive when executed. It will only extract under 32-bit Microsoft operating systems (Microsoft Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, and Windows 2000 Professional). The extraction process will NOT work with any other operating systems.

Driver Installation Steps

  1. Download the driver file to a subdirectory on your system (e.g. C:/TEMP).
  2. Execute the downloaded driver file. This will unpack the driver in the temporary subdirectory.
  3. Follow the installation instructions provided with the driver.

    I have Windows Me and you are right the Crystal Driver will not work. I saw some comment that if you get out of Me it will install but I wasn’t sure what the guy was talking about.
