BenQ DW1640 supports 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW and 8x DVD+R9 DL writing technology, allowing dual layer discs of 8.5Gb to be written. BenQ has create a history because this is the worlds first DVD-burner to support the DVD+R9 DL format at 8x.
Before you download the latest, BenQ advices you to download their Firmware Checker (available here) and make sure your firmware is not later than the downloaded firmware and is for the correct model.
For newbies, I would like to advice you to read the firmware flashing doc file before you start flashing your BenQ DW1640. Although things mentioned in the doc are pretty standard, such as do not shut down your PC before flashing done, check MD5 checksum and backup previous version of flash files, you might save yourself alot of trouble by reading the firmware flashing doc before the actual flashing is done.
