Description

Below is installation guideline for this Dell Vostro 1400 touch-pad driver:

  1. Download the R165804.exe to your Vostro 1400 system.
  2. Double click on the R165804.exe file.
  3. The Self-Extracting window will appears and prompts you to extract or unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R165804.
  4. The Self-Extractor window appears.
  5. Click OK to continue.
  6. After the extraction complete, open Windows Explorer. Go to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R165804 to look for setup.exe
  7. Double click on the setup.exe to start the installation.
  8. Select Continue when prompted.
  9. Click the [Next] button when the installation wizard is displayed.
  10. Click the [Finish] button when the driver installation completes.
  11. Click the [Restart Now] button to restart the computer.
If you prefer to install the Dell Vostro 1400 touch-pad driver from the Control Panel, please find below the guideline for how to perform the driver installation in Windows XP:
  1. Double click on the R165804.exe file.
  2. The Self-Extracting window will appears and prompts you to extract or unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R165804.
  3. The Self-Extractor window appears.
  4. Click OK to continue.
  5. Open your Dell system [Control Panel].
  6. Select [Performance and Maintenance].
  7. Click on [System].
  8. Choose the [Hardware] tab.
  9. Click on the [Device Manager] button.
  10. Select [PS/2 Compatible Mouse] under [Mice and other pointing devices] category.
  11. From the [Action] menu, choose [Update Driver...].
  12. Choose [No, not this time] and then press the [Next] button.
  13. Select [Install from a list of specific location (Advanced)] and then press the [Next] button.
  14. Select [Don't search. I will choose the driver to install.] and then press the [Next] button.
  15. Click the [Have Disk...] button.
  16. Click on the [Browse...] button and then specify the .inf file of the driver. The ApInst.inf file is the one that you are looking for.
  17. Click the [OK] button when the .inf file is specified.
  18. Press the [Next] button
  19. Click the [Finish] button when the driver installation completes.
  20. Please restart your computer to complete the setup.
According to Dell, this version of Dell Vostro 1400 touchpad driver fixes the following issue:
