Description

A certain part of the CD/DVD drives firmware has to identify itself to the BIOS and OS with a string that is limited to 8 characters.So when Matsushita had to come up with an 8-character name, they abbreviated Matsushita to “Matshita”.

Now if you got an error message or bios or WinXP reported that you have a “Matshita” CD/DVD drive, you know it is from Panasonic for sure.
