Description

HP Pavilion a1700n is using an ASUS manufactured motherboard. Its Asus model number is A8M2N-LA and HP model number is NodusM3-GL8E.

Looking through the motherboard model number, we will see that a1700n is using the chipset combination of GeForce 6150 LE and nForce 430. From here we know that the video is an integrated graphics solution (Geforce 6150 LE), also knwon as build in video. LE means it is a build in version and generally has lower specifications and performance compared to non-LE version. Anyhow if you need more performance you can always buy a dedicated VGA card that plug into an available PCI-Express x16 slot in your HP Pavilion a1700n PC.

So now our job is easier since we already know the video chipset is GeForce 6150 LE. We can start looking for it in AMD website, since AMD now owns NVIDIA. Why don't we look for the driver in HP website? Well, you can but AMD generally has newer and more update driver version, and the navigation is a little easier to use than HP's.

Turns out AMD has different NVIDIA GeForce drivers for a1700n. Version 260.99 for Windows 7 and Windows Vista and Version 266.58 for Windows XP. The latest driver support ION. In fact, the driver supports GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500-series desktop GPUs as well as ION desktop GPUs.
