HP 720C Driver in Windows XP

That was what stated on HP website regarding Deskjet 720C Windows XP driver. If you are asked for the driver during using the printer, here is a guide to manually install the 720C printer driver:

  2. Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes .
  3. Printer Tasks, click Add a printer .
  4. Click Next .
  5. Select Local, then remove the check mark from Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer .
  6. Click Next .
  7. Select Port .
  8. Parallel connection is usually LPT1.
  9. USB connection is usually USB001.
  10. Click Next .
  11. Select HP from the Manufacturer list .
  12. Select the printer model from the printer list, and then click Next .
  13. Select Yes if this printer is the default printer, or select No if it is not.
  14. Click Next to continue.
  15. Select No to skip the test page, and then click Next .
  16. Click Finish to complete the installation.
  17. If prompted for a Windows disk in Step 12, do not use the disk that came with the printer, use the Windows XP disk or the recovery disk that came with the computer.
  18. If prompted for a Windows disk, insert the appropriate Windows or PC Recovery disk (not the disk that came with the printer) and follow the instructions on the screen. Once the driver has been installed, it will be listed in the Printers window ( Start, then Printers and Faxes ).

HP 720C Driver in Windows Vista

Driver for HP 720C is already build in in Windows Vista. Once you power on your 720C and plug in the USB cable from printer to PC, a [A Your devices are ready to use] window will display on the screen.

Basic printing and scanning function will work with the build in driver in Windows Vista, however if you need to use more advanced function of HP 720C in Windows Vista, you have no choice but to get a newer replacement model for your HP720C because here is what HP said:

You might find that some of the advanced features are no longer available when using this basic driver.

You can upgrade to an HP product that is fully compatible with Windows Vista if the advanced features are necessary.
