| Description | This is the latest (version 1.07) and probably the last version available for Acer Aspire AS7560 notebook. Why? There are five BIOS updates for year 2011 and one for 2012 (this one) and as the model getting older and most of the problems fixed, no more new BIOS update will be available.
Unlike previous update, this ver. 1.07 BIOS update for AS7560 has no description for what it supposed to fix except "BIOS". There are two ways to update the BIOS, DOS or Windows. The readme say "Windows flash: Please click "PXXX5107.exe" to update bios.". I tried to do it on my non-Acer PC and this is what I got "IHISI: Get support mode fail in SMI!". Probably the updater fail to detect the required ROM/chip and quit. As for DOS way of update, there is a Update.BAT file with two other EXE file. I think you will need to use some boot disk or other way to boot to pure DOS mode (not fake DOS under windows" and run the batch file. The batch file will try to locate the "930 EC rom chip" and if found it will call flkashit.exe to update the BIOS file. As always, please back up important files prior to do a BIOS update, and please do not power down the notebook during the process unless you are told to. |
