Sony advices users do not try to flash a S-ATA device with a P-ATA firmware and vice versa. This will cause the drive to be damage. Below is the installation guideline for Sony DVD AW-G170A Firmware:
- After downloading the AWG170A_SG_175.ZIP, kindly unzip the file into a working folder.
- Then, double click on AWG170A_SG_175.exe.
- Installation will start by prompting you to close all applications, and remove any CDs from the DVD RW.
- Click OK to continue.
- Follow the instruction on the screen to complete the firmware update.
- Restart your computer after the installation.
