This CMI8738 driver package contains a driver for PCI cards or on board sound solution that are based on the CMI8378 chipset.
This driver with version 5.12 is quite old, dated back to year 2002. This driver is for Windows XP only, and requires a computer with a CMI8738-based audio card. While browsing C-Media forum, I found that there C-Media is doing something new (at least I have not seen). Some of the drivers are being offered on the CMedia forum first, before releasing them into the wild on the cmedia.com driver download section. Well, at least some forumers can be the guinea pigs and download and test the driver properly, versus being tested by in house programmers/testers. So while you can download the official driver, I have provided a link to the beta driver available on the CMedia forum, just in case you need it and are too lazy to browse thru the CMedia forum.
Please also do note that C-Media does not provide end user support for drivers, so please contact your hardware manufacturer if you need further support, when the CMI8738 driver is not working as expected. Alternatively, you can try the Free Driver Scanner. |
